The Old and New Masters of the Midwest
From the beginning, the Rourke has championed the talents of local and regional artists, particularly those from Minnesota and North Dakota. Works by Midwestern artists represent more than half of the 4,000 works in the permanent collection.
A century of Midwestern artists are represented, from self-taught prairie artist Annie Stein to today’s emerging artists. A vast range of artistic styles and media are represented, from traditional paintings in oil to found-object assemblages to sculptures and mixed media.
