Growing up, the natural landscape has been a prominent aspect in my life, which created an appreciation for undeveloped land. These wild, overgrown places provided endless opportunity for exploration and imagination. However, natural landscapes are dwindling all over our earth as we continue to tear up the land and extract our natural resources.
I’m from the Prairie is inspired by the land that I grew up on. This land – that was once only used for cattle grazing – is now a large site for sand extraction. Seeing this drastic change has moved me to create this body of work.
As you walk through, I hope that you experience an overwhelming wonderment that creates growth in your awareness for natural landscape preservation.
