Renee Danz was raised in Battle Lake, Minnesota. From 1971 to 1974 she studied art at Minnesota State University Moorhead and the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR. In 1975, Renee married Greg Danz. They moved to Sioux Falls, SD, for work. They have two children, Castle and Josepha. Renee pursued painting and exhibited at Gallery 306, a solo exhibition at The Civic Fine Arts Center in Sioux Falls, as well as Worthington, MN.
In 1989, Greg and his brother, Jeff, opened Zandbroz Variety in downtown Sioux Falls. In 1991, they opened another Zandbroz in downtown Fargo, ND. Greg and family moved to Fargo to manage the store. Renee did window design and visual merchandising until Greg closed the store in 2024. While in Fargo, Renee participated in the Annual Midwestern Invitational at The Rourke Gallery + Museum and in the Great Winter Crow Show at The Spirit Room and created a six-floor installation at Innovis Hospital. She exhibited at the Nemeth Art Center, Park Rapids, MN, and the New York Mills Art Center in New York Mills, MN. For several years, Renee was in the abstract painting group led by Marjorie Schlossman. She participated in abstract painting exhibits at West Acres and the Spirit Room. In 2026, Greg and Renee bought a house in Minneapolis, MN, so they could be near their daughter Josepha, her husband, Don, and their baby, Harrison. |

Artist Statement
Making Art, no matter what medium you’re working in, needs to make a statement that you want other people to relate to. Between Nature, the outside world, the Human Experience, and our inner lives, we need to communicate. We need to take a stand in what we believe in. I believe we are all connected. Nature is connected to us and we are connected to nature. I work on a piece of Art until I like it. It is often not easy. I work to find solutions to make a decent piece that others might find worthy. --Renee Danz, 2026 |
