Intro to Indigo & Shibori with Linae Enockson

6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thu. 10 Jun. 2021
Course fee: $35*
Duration: 1.5 hours
Dyeing with plants is very popular and no dyestuff is more historically popular than Indigo (or Woad)! Still used in some brands of blue jeans, Indigo is a mysterious plant that is not water-soluble!! Currently popular for home décor, Indigo dye is often seen in combination with Japanese Shibori tie-dye patterns. In this class, participants will learn about the history of indigo, basic preparation methods, try their hands at several basic Shibori techniques, and dye their pieces in an established indigo vat.

  • Each class participant will bring home a few pieces of hand-dyed fabric.
  • Supplies and equipment are provided by the instructor.
  • This class will be messy — Please dress accordingly!
  • This class will be held outdoors.

* Cancel your registration at any time prior to class day by emailing [email protected] but the supply and registration fees for this course ($10) are non-refundable.
